A Brief Introduction to Swedish Baking
For Swedes, fresh baked goods go hand-in-hand with a coffee culture rarely seen outside of northern Europe as part of the fika tradition. In fact, Sweden is the second most coffee consuming country in the world! The process of consuming all that coffee, however, is a far cry from the grab-and-go Starbucks culture of the US. Instead, Swedes take a pause from the daily grind at least once (usually twice) per day to sit down and enjoy their coffee with friends, family, or coworkers. And along with each cup of coffee there is something sweet, nicely presented, and (ideally) homemade to share as part of the fika tradition.
Sweets by the Swede is applying Swedish baking traditions and methods to the creation of custom cakes and desserts for weddings, birthdays, showers, or any special occasion throughout the tri-state area and Rhode Island. All items are created with flavor and texture driving aesthetic, not the other way around. Each item is made completely from scratch using only fresh, real ingredients resulting in beautiful baked goods that taste as good as they look!
